MEET THOMAS

Photographer: Bailey Tyler

I am a Virginia-based educator, director, and theatre artist with a BFA degree in Musical Theatre from the South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University.

With foundational experience and training in performance, I have a passion for creating and sharing my love of the theatrical arts. This passion has led me to work on regional productions and tours all over the country and has allowed me to work with such companies as The Rev Theatre Company, Mill Mountain Theatre, Missoula Children’s Theatre, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, Lexington Children’s Theatre, and the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival. Some of my favorite creative team projects include PETER PAN JR., THE ADDAMS FAMILY, A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD, ANNIE JR., TUCK EVERLASTING, AND ALICE IN WONDERLAND, among others.

I currently serve as the Theatre and Choral Director at North Cross School in Roanoke, Virginia. Apart from my teaching and directing duties, I also serve as the Fine Arts Department Chair and coordinate the Fine Arts Distinction program for our Upper School students. When I am not in the classroom or working on a production, I like to spend my free time exploring, hiking, thrifting, and drinking coffee with my beautiful wife and highly energized two-year-old German Shepherd mix.

I believe wholeheartedly in the power of theatre and its ability to inspire hearts and minds through the messages presented on stage. Theatre has the unique capacity to foster empathy, spark imagination, and provoke meaningful conversations. It serves as a mirror to society, reflecting our shared experiences and challenges while also offering a space for hope and transformation. I am dedicated to nurturing the next generation of artists and audiences, ensuring that the magic of storytelling continues to thrive. Through my work, I strive to create inclusive and engaging environments where creativity flourishes, and every voice is heard.
